Federal court dismisses VW’s emissions appeal

Germany-based Volkswagen AG has lost an appeal against a record 125 million Australian ($95 million) fine in Australia over the engine-control software and emissions cheating scandal, Reuters reported. The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission said that the federal court fined Volkswagen in December 2019 and the company appealed this decision, insisting that the court should instead impose the AUD75 million in penalties it had agreed to with the regulator.
