Global insurers see spate of ransomware claims

Insurers that cover cyber risks globally are receiving an increasing number of claims related to ransom demands from hackers who freeze businesses’ computer systems and websites until they receive payment, NewAge Business reported citing Reuters. Brad Gow, global cyber product leader for insurer Sompo International, said the insurer has received a spate of ransomware claims from companies with annual revenue between $500 million and $1 billion.
