Insurers' reinsurance premiums rise 9% in Brazil

Brazilian insurers' reinsurance premiums grew nearly 9% year over year to 12 billion Brazilian real ($3 billion) in 2018, Segs.com reported. Brazilian reinsurers' local premiums grew more than 12% to BRL 11.4 billion while foreign premiums increased 35% to BRL 3 billion. The reinsurers' profit totaled BRL 1.4 billion, up nearly 7% from BRL 1.3 billion in 2017.
