Ukraine nuclear plant gets $250-million political risk cover

The U.S. Overseas Private Investment Corp. will provide investors a $250 million political risk insurance cover for the construction of the Central Spent Nuclear Fuel Storage Facility in Ukraine, Ukrinform reported. The insurer signed an agreement with the National Nuclear Energy Generating Co. of Ukraine to build the nuclear plant. Yuri Nedashkovsky, president of National Nuclear Energy, said that investors from the United States gave guarantees that they would have an opportunity for a 20-year period to recover their funds and make a stable profit.
