Climate change to increase cost of windstorm damage by more than a third: Research

Research by the Association of British Insurers has found that climate change is likely to increase the cost of windstorm destruction by more than a third in parts of the United Kingdom, The Guardian reported. Incidences of broken roofs and damaged buildings are likely to increase by over 50% across The Midlands, Yorkshire and Northern Ireland. The overall cost of wind storms currently runs at an average of about £1 billion ($1.3 billion) a year.
