Ransomware and cryptoware are likely to cause major attacks on critical infrastructure and industrial systems in the region, Kaspersky Lab said.
The number of ransomware attacks in the Middle East increased 15% year on year to 150,000 in the first quarter of 2016.
There were 2.2 billion cyber attacks globally in the quarter, said Kaspersky Lab.
