Takata's crisis widens as deaths rise and recall expandsReprints
Japan-based Takata Corp.'s crisis has widened after two recent deaths were linked to ruptured air bag inflators, reported Bloomberg.
The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recently ordered Takata to recall and replace about 40 million additional air bag inflators in the U.S. The total number of inflators to be recalled now totals about 69 million. Credit Suisse Group A.G. has estimated that a recall of 50 million vehicles would cost Takata around 375 billion Japanese yen ($3.51 billion).
