Mining firm Vale says mine disaster to cost at least $443 million

Brazilian mining firm Vale S.A. has said that the recent dam burst at its mine in the country is likely to cost it at least $443 million, reported Reuters.

The $443 million estimate does not involve legal costs. Vale expects the clean-up to take a long time.

The dam burst claimed 13 lives and flooded thick mud across two states.

The final cost of the disaster is likely to be much higher than Vale's estimate, reported Reuters.
