South Africa may reduce water supply amid drought: Minister

Nomvula Mokonyane, South Africa's Minister of Water Affairs and Sanitation, has said that the government may have to reduce water supply in some regions as the country faces the worst drought since 1992, reported Bloomberg.

Below average rainfall in the last few months has led to "worsening drought conditions" in the country, said Ms. Mokonyane.

The South African Weather Service has said that the drought caused by El Nino will continue into March 2016.

Ms. Mokonyane said that the worst affected province is KwaZulu-Natal.
