Cuba's agriculture at risk due to worst drought in 115 years

Drought in Cuba has put the country's agriculture at risk, reported Xinhua.

The ongoing drought is considered to be the worst drought to hit the Caribbean in 115 years.

Thousands of hectares of crops, including sugar cane and vegetable crops have been damaged in the country due to lack of rainfall.

Forecasters have said that the current drought has mainly been created by the combined effects of climate change and the El Nino/Southern Oscillation.

The Cuban Institute of Meteorology has forecast that the drought will last until the rest of 2015.
