Regulator imposes $6.1 million fine on copper mine

Chile's environmental regulator has imposed a 3.8 billion Chilean pesos ($6.1 million) fine on U.K.-based Anglo American P.L.C.'s Los Bronces copper mine in Chile for environmental breaches, reports Reuters.

The regulator has also ordered closure of one of its waste dumps.

Los Bronces had committed several breaches, including one that had caused irreparable damage to surrounding land, the regulator said.

The regulator added that there also have been infractions related to forest management.
