Mexico: Government should work with insurers to reduce catastrophe losses, official says

Mexico-based AXA Seguros S.A. de C.V.'s government relations director Hugo Martinez has said that the country's government should work with private insurers to reduce catastrophe losses, BNamericas reported citing newspaper El Economista.

Natural disaster costs could be reduced if all of the 32 federal entities of Mexico provided coverage against these events, another official said. Figures from the United Nations show that natural disasters cost the country nearly $50 billion in the past 30 years.
