Japanese executives identified data leakage as the biggest threat followed by natural disasters, external cyber attack, exchange rate fluctuations and labor risks, according to AIU Insurance Co.'s survey of 200 senior officials.

Executives identified investigation and verification as the most important countermeasure in the event of a data leakage, reports Asia Insurance Review.

A cyber attack is estimated to cost on average 120 million Japanese yen ($1.3 million).

About 70% of the 62 top executives with overseas operations, were either not aware of the cyber threats, or were aware but not ready for countermeasures.
