BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

BIPA

A bill was introduced in the Illinois House of Representatives on Friday that would amend employees’ entitlement to relief under the Biometric Information Privacy Act.

H.B. 5396 provides that if an employee brings an action against an employer under the BIPA, the employee’s entitlement to relief would be determined as provided in the Workers Compensation Act.

The partisan bill would amend the Workers Compensation Act section on damages, minors and third-party liability to reflect the proposed changes to the BIPA.

The bill was introduced and filed with the clerk by Republican Rep. Jim Durkin on Jan. 28.
