ASSP names safety professional of the year

Bala Siva Srikanth Adivi, an occupational health, safety and environment expert at the Kuwait Oil Co. and 12-year member of the American Society of Safety Professionals, was named ASSP’s 2020 Safety Professional of the Year, the organization announced Wednesday.

Described as a “dynamic workplace safety professional” with more than two decades of experience, Mr. Adivi is credited with initiating many operational enhancements that have resulted in measurable workplace safety improvements, including the creation of corporate-level task forces.

Mr. Adivi holds several advanced degrees, including that in ecology and environment, fire engineering, and industrial safety. He has authored many technical papers on key safety topics and has presented his findings at international conferences, according to a statement.

“Bala has earned this significant honor with his passion and daily commitment to safety and health,” ASSP President Diana Stegall said in the statement. “He is known for being a self-motivated, high-performing leader who remains down-to-earth and personable. He’s a great example of what ASSP represents.”
