North Dakota Gov. Jack Dalrymple has signed a bill into law that defines the situations in which workers compensation and other payers should cover air ambulance services.
H.B. 1255, which amends the North Dakota Century Code, was introduced by Republican state Rep. Todd Porter in January.
The bill requires the North Dakota Department of Health to create and maintain a primary and secondary call list of air ambulance service providers operating in the state and to establish air ambulance service response zones based on response times for patient health and safety, among other provisions.
H.B. 1255 also defines different types of ambulance services for workers comp benefits, such as emergency response and immediate response. Emergency response means an ambulance responds immediately, whereas immediate response means “an ambulance begins as quickly as possible to take the steps necessary to respond to the call.”
Gov. Dalrymple, a Republican, signed H.B. 1255 into law on Monday.
The National Council on Compensation Insurance Inc. will serve as the plan administrator for Tennessee’s residual workers compensation market as of July 1, according to the Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance.
