No magic in Magic Key Disneyland pass: Lawsuit

According to Disneyland fanatics, the Disney Parks, Experiences and Products Inc. has become a villain in their fight to visit the park whenever they want.

Subscribers to the park’s Magic Key program, the replacement for Annual Passes at the Disneyland Resort, filed a $5 million lawsuit claiming the park misled them on the issue of no block-out dates to priority visits, treating them as “second-class ticket holders by artificially limiting Magic Key reservations and the number of key holders that can visit on any given day,” according to the suit. 

Pass holders complained of notorious difficulty in securing reservations for the two California theme parks, with very limited reservations available for elite pass holders, according to media reports.

After defending its passes in the press, the company last week filed a notice of removal, which takes the case from state court to federal court. “We have been clear about the terms of the Magic Key product and we know that many of our guests are enjoying the experiences these passes provide,” a spokeswoman told the Los Angeles Times.
