Mosaic adds senior transactional risk executives

Mosaic Insurance Holdings Ltd. has recruited senior transactional risk executives Stavan Desai, formerly at American International Group Inc., and Katherine Spenner, previously with Everest Re Group Ltd.

Both Mr. Desai and Ms. Spenner will be based in New York and report to William Monat, executive vice president and global head of mergers and acquisitions at Mosaic, the Bermuda start-up insurer said in a statement Monday.

Mr. Monat was recently recruited to spearhead Mosaic’s transactional liability business globally.

As senior vice president, M&A team leader, Mr. Desai will guide Mosaic’s underwriting team in North America. Mr. Desai previously served as senior underwriter for AIG, with a focus on transitional risk insurance for complex M&A and secondary transactions. Previously, he served as a senior attorney at Schulte, Roth & Zabel LLP.

As senior vice president, chief legal officer, M&A, at Mosaic, Ms. Spenner will lead underwriting across the M&A insurance portfolio. Ms. Spenner previously served as a senior transactional risk underwriter at Everest Insurance. She brings nearly a decade of experience representing public and private-equity clients in a wide range of complex domestic and cross-border M&A transactions at White & Case LLP.
