Amwins to buy agency that specializes in equine, canine risks

Amwins Group Inc. said Monday it has agreed to acquire Aurora, Colorado-based Equisure Inc., an insurance agency that specializes in equine and canine risks.

Terms of the deal, which is expected to close later this month, were not disclosed.

All 15 Equisure employees will join Amwins, including Diane Lesher, Equisure president, a spokeswoman said via email.

Equisure specializes in placing coverage for horse and dog clubs, owners and related associations, Amwins said in a statement.

Charlotte, North Carolina-based Amwins is the largest wholesale broker and the largest specialty intermediary, according to Business Insurance’s latest ranking. It had wholesale premium volume of $14.67 billion and gross revenue of $1.37 billion in 2019, the latest year for which figures are available.
