Falvey recruits Hartford underwriting manager

Falvey Insurance Group has recruited former Hartford Financial Services Group Inc. executive Mike McKenna as chief underwriting officer, effective May 3.
Mr. McKenna was previously chief underwriting officer at Hartford’s global specialty division, formerly Navigators Management Co. Inc., Falvey said in a statement Tuesday.
As Falvey CUO, Mr. McKenna, who will be based in Westfield, New Jersey, will oversee underwriting for all group companies: Falvey Cargo Underwriting, Falvey Shippers Insurance and Safe Harbor Pollution Insurance.
Mr. McKenna joins the existing executive team of Jack Falvey, chief operating officer; Daryl McKay, chief relationship officer; Mike Edwards, chief financial officer; and Mike Falvey, CEO and president of the group.
North Kingstown, Rhode Island-based Falvey has added 28 staff since January 2020, including underwriters Kathleen Creedon, also formerly of Hartford; Will Frohne and Yasu Saegusa, formerly of Brit U.S.; and Danielle Jackson, formerly of Intact insurance Co. in Canada.
