Ryan Specialty names leadership of reinsurance unit

Ryan Specialty Group LLC on Monday named Brian Boornazian executive chairman of Ryan Re Underwriting Managers LLC and Emil Issavi president and CEO of the reinsurance underwriting unit.
Mr. Boornazian joined Ryan Specialty in 2018 from Aspen Re, a unit of Aspen Insurance Holdings Ltd., and was later named president and CEO of Ryan Re. The previous executive chairman of Ryan Re was Michael D. O’Halleran, who transitioned to executive chairman of Geneva Re, the Bermuda-based reinsurer formed by Ryan Specialty investors and Nationwide Mutual Insurance Co., in 2019.
Mr. Issavi, who also came from Aspen, joined Ryan Re in 2019.
Ryan Specialty also named Steve Capodanno as chief operating officer and said he will also retain his responsibilities as head of claims for the underwriting manager, which writes North American property/casualty treaty reinsurance.
