Chubb announces executive changes

Chubb Ltd. has named John Alfieri as president, Chubb Canada, with immediate effect, the insurer said in a statement Thursday.

Mr. Alfieri, who is currently executive vice president of Chubb North America major accounts field operations, succeeds Ellen Moore, who is retiring at the end of the year after 40 years with Chubb.

Based in Toronto, Mr. Alfieri will have executive operating responsibility for Chubb’s retail property/casualty insurance business for Canadian-based clients served by independent brokers and agents, Chubb said.

He will report to Chris Maleno, senior vice president, Chubb Group and division president, North America field operations.

Ms. Moore will become chair of operations, Chubb Canada, where she will work through the remainder of the year in an advisory capacity to help ensure a smooth transition, Chubb said.

Michael Tanenbaum will succeed Mr. Alfieri in his current role as executive vice president of Chubb North America major accounts field operations, which serves large U.S. and Canadian-based companies, Chubb said in a separate statement.

Based in New York, Mr. Tanenbaum will be responsible for field operations for the company’s major accounts business and develop and implement strategies delivering coverage and service to large domestic and multinational companies, Chubb said.

Mr. Tanenbaum will report to Matt Merna, senior vice president, Chubb Group and division president, Chubb North America major accounts.

William A. Wise will succeed Mr. Tanenbaum as executive vice president of Chubb’s North America professional liability and cyber practice, based in Whitehouse Station, New Jersey.

Mr. Wise, who has served as senior vice president of Chubb North America financial lines since 2016, will report to Steven F. Goldman, vice-president Chubb Group and division president, North America financial lines.

Prior to his current role, Mr. Alfieri served as Chubb’s regional executive officer for the New York region and held various leadership roles at ACE prior to its merger with Chubb in 2015.
