BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

MS Amlin names former Everest Re exec chief underwriter

Andrew Carrier

MS Amlin Underwriting Ltd. named former Everest Re executive Andrew Carrier chief underwriting officer to review and reposition its business, the Lloyd’s of London insurer and reinsurer said Monday.

As part of the revamp, Andrew Wright and Mark Clements, co-chief underwriting officers for specialty business and Phil Wooldridge, chief underwriting officer for reinsurance, will step down from their roles Sept. 30, Amlin said.

The changes come as the insurer continues to simplify its operating model and dissolves its previous management structure, MS Amlin said in a statement.

Mr. Carrier was previously a senior vice president at Everest Re Group Ltd.

As chief underwriting officer, Mr. Carrier will manage all of MS Amlin’s underwriting business, including the syndicate’s reinsurance and specialty insurance divisions.

Mr. Carrier will take up the new role on Sept. 7 and report directly to Tom Clementi, chief executive officer of MS Amlin Underwriting Ltd.

“We have removed group and legacy MS Amlin PLC structures, making our companies leaner, stand-alone entities,” Mr. Clementi said in the statement.

The latest shakeup follows a restructuring announced by MS Amlin’s Tokyo-based parent Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Group Holdings Inc. late last year.
