Chubb names underwriting officer

Chubb Ltd. named Michelle McLaughlin chief underwriting officer of its North America retail commercial property/casualty insurance division, Chubb said in a statement Tuesday.
Ms. McLaughlin replaces Alex Wells, who is no longer with the company, according to an email from a spokesman.
The division serves middle-market and small businesses through 48 offices in the United States and Canada.
Ms. McLaughlin will guide the business lines' underwriting strategies and authority, as well as general underwriting management, the statement said.
She will be based in Whitehouse Station, New Jersey, and report to James Williamson, vice president of small business, and Ben Rockwell, vice president of middle market, the statement said.
Ms. McLaughlin most recently served as executive vice president and property and marine manager, commercial insurance for Chubb North America and began her career at Chubb in 1992 as an intern in the company's internal audit department, the statement said.
