Alera buys California brokerage

Alera Group has bought Barkley Risk Management & Insurance, the brokerage announced Tuesday.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Oxnard, California-based Barkley has about 25 employees. The property/casualty and employee benefits brokerage has expertise in agriculture, manufacturing, hospitality and entertainment, Deerfield, Illinois-based Alera said in a statement.
The Barkley team, led by CEO Al Barkley, will remain in their existing roles, the statement said.
Alera is the 17th largest broker of U.S. business, according to Business Insurance’s most recent ranking.
