BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

Roxsann Wilson Jane Sandler

The Risk & Insurance Management Society Inc. has named Roxsann Wilson as its 2020 Risk Manager of the Year, and Jane Sandler has been inducted into the 2020 Risk Management Honor Roll.

These professionals are, “without question, risk management leaders that have broken down barriers and elevated the risk management narratives within their organizations,” said RIMS CEO Mary Roth in a statement Tuesday.

Ms. Wilson is vice president of risk management for Cardinal Health Inc., a $145 billion health care services and products company based in Dublin, Ohio.

At Cardinal Health, Ms. Wilson not only manages insurance placements but also oversees the development and implementation of enterprise risk management, including business continuity initiatives and loss mitigation strategies. During her four years with the company, she has restructured the property, professional, products liability and cyber liability programs and established procedures to optimize the insurance recovery process.

She and her team have also implemented cost-containment initiatives in workers compensation that have resulted in millions of dollars in annual savings.

Ms. Sandler is vice president, global risk management at McKesson Corp., a $241 billion distributor of health care, retail pharmacy, community oncology and specialty care.

Atlanta-based Ms. Sandler is responsible for risk management for McKesson worldwide, designing and leading cost-effective strategies to evaluate, mitigate and manage the company’s operational and strategic risks.

In her four years with the company, Ms. Sandler and her team have successfully created a centralized global risk management function, implemented a new risk management information system, and conducted global risk financing optimization and captive utilization studies that have enabled the company to identify opportunities to retain additional risk in captives, reduce the total cost of risk and hedge against a hardening market.

The Risk Manager of the Year program was initiated in 1977, and the Risk Management Honor Roll was added in 1981.
