BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

Hambone Award

Will it be Max the Great Pyrenees who got his head stuck in a hog trap? Jasper the cat who went a few rounds in the dryer? Or maybe Frank the Rottweiler who got in a tangle with a porcupine?

Nationwide Mutual Insurance Co. is giving pet enthusiasts until Thursday to cast a vote for the 2019 Hambone Award, an award named after a dog who ate an entire Thanksgiving ham while stuck in a refrigerator. If a pet wins, the medical facility that helped them out of the proverbial health doghouse can collect up to $10,000, according to the pet insurer.

The insurer has narrowed the search for the most bizarre incident to five pets for the 2019 award, a program now in its 10th year, and includes such hall of famers as a pair of German shepherds, Ziva and Zeus, who survived 21 days in a missile silo and a rock-pooping pug named Harley.

“Each claim exemplifies the inspiring strengths of our pets, the harrowing actions of our pet parents and the amazing skills of trusted veterinarians,” Nationwide said of its program.
