Former TigerRisk exec Ursano to join Hamilton Insurance

Tony Ursano, former president of TigerRisk Partners LLC, has been named group chief financial officer of Hamilton Insurance Group Ltd., the Bermuda-based insurer and reinsurer said Wednesday, as it completed its previously announced acquisition of Liberty Mutual Insurance Co.’s European and Lloyd’s of London units.

Mr. Ursano, who left TigerRisk in May and will join Hamilton on Sept. 5, fills the role previously occupied by Jonathan Reiss, who has been named president of strategic partnerships, a new business unit at Hamilton, the company said in a statement.

Prior to TigerRisk, New York-based Mr. Ursano, who has 32 years of insurance and investment banking experience, was CEO of Willis Capital Markets & Advisory and head of corporate development for the brokerage for six years, Hamilton said.

In his new role, Bermuda-based Mr. Reiss will develop the strategy and business plan for Hamilton’s strategic partnerships and oversee the company’s third-party capital platform, Hamilton Capital Partners, the statement said.

Hamilton has also completed its acquisition of Liberty Mutual’s London-based Pembroke Managing Agency Ltd. and its platform at Lloyd’s, as well as Dublin-based insurer Ironshore Europe DAC, following receipt of necessary regulatory approvals, the statement said.

With the acquisition, Hamilton doubles its total premium base, on a pro forma basis to $1.1 billion, the statement said.
