BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

Chubb Ltd. said Thursday it has promoted longtime executive Juan Luis Ortega to executive vice president of Chubb Group and president of its overseas general insurance business with immediate effect, replacing Juan C. Andrade, who has left the company.

In a separate statement, Everest Re Group Ltd. said Mr. Andrade has been named chief operating officer beginning Sept. 1 and will succeed Dominic J. Addesso as president and CEO on Jan. 1, 2020.

Mr. Addesso’s retirement and the search for his successor were announced earlier this year.

Mr. Andrade, who had run Chubb’s international general insurance operations since Ace Ltd.’s acquisition of the company in 2015, was previously an executive vice president of Ace and the chief operating officer of Ace Overseas General.

In his new role, Mr. Ortega will lead Chubb’s international general insurance operations in 51 countries, including commercial property/casualty, traditional and specialty personal lines, and accident and health insurance, the insurer said in a statement.

Currently senior vice president at Chubb Group and regional president of Latin America, New York-based Mr. Ortega will report to John Keogh, executive vice chairman and chief operating officer, Chubb said.

Chubb’s overseas general insurance unit comprises a division that distributes via retail brokers in Europe, Asia-Pacific, Japan, Latin America, and Eurasia and Africa, and an excess and surplus lines company that distributes through London wholesale and Lloyd’s of London brokers, the statement said.

Mr. Ortega will be responsible for all products, underwriting, claims, actuarial and support functions related to these businesses, Chubb said in the statement.

Meanwhile, Marcos Gunn was named senior vice president, Chubb Group and regional president, Latin America, with immediate effect, Chubb said in a separate statement.

Miami-based Mr. Gunn, who will report to Mr. Ortega, is currently division president, northern Latin America and chief operating officer of the Latin America region, and will retain those responsibilities for an interim period, Chubb said.
