A driving instructor allegedly wanted his students to speed through testing by hacking into his province’s backlogged road test waitlist, CBC/Radio-Canada reported Wednesday.
The Insurance Corporation of British Columbia investigators raided the home of a Richmond, British Columbia, driving instructor, and court documents revealed that students of the instructor allegedly were able to schedule road tests in just two days when others waited up to three months to prove their worth on the road, the Canadian news outlet reported.
According to the report, the instructor’s internet address was allegedly linked to transactions involving the booking of road test slots.
Although the instructor has not been charged with an offense, he could be charged with fraud for depriving others of road test appointments, said the news report.
A former law enforcement officer who said she could no longer chase down criminals due to an on-the-job injury had no trouble sprinting on the treadmill or pumping iron while receiving disability benefits and has pleaded no contest to a felony violation of state insurance code.
