Hartford appoints commercial insurance executive

Hartford Financial Services Group Inc. said Tuesday it has named longtime executive Matt Scott as head of the Northeast division for the company’s middle and large commercial insurance business.
Based in Hartford, Connecticut, Mr. Scott will lead the underwriting and sales operations that partner with independent agents and brokers to provide specialized risk coverages for midsize to large clients in southern and northern New England and New York City, the insurer said in a statement.
Mr. Scott, who joined the company in 1997 and was most recently head of Hartford’s claims solutions business, will report to Tracey Ant, head of field operations for middle and large commercial insurance, the statement said.
The role being filled by Mr. Scott has been vacant for several years and Hartford is in the process of looking for a replacement for his prior position as head of claims solutions, a spokeswoman said in an email.
