Aon snags former JLT insurance-linked securities experts

Aon PLC has hired the former co-heads of Jardine Lloyd Thompson Group PLC’s insurance-linked securities unit, the brokerage announced Monday.
New York-based Michael Popkin and Rick Miller worked at JLT Capital Markets and its predecessor firm for eight and 10 years, respectively, where they placed private catastrophe bonds and other ILS products, Aon said in a statement.
They will both be managing directors and report to Paul Schultz, CEO of Aon Securities.
The move follows the acquisition of JLT by Marsh & McLennan Cos. Inc., which was completed in April.
Earlier this year, Marsh reorganized parts of its reinsurance brokerage, Guy Carpenter LLC, including its ILS operations, and last month announced several executive changes at Guy Carpenter.
