BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

RIMS forms diversity council

The Risk & Insurance Management Society Inc. on Monday said it has formed a Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Council.

Addition of the new council was approved by RIMS’ 2019 board of directors in January, the organization said in a statement. Its formation was recommended in 2018 by the RIMS Diversity & Inclusion Task Force, which said in its mission statement that it aimed to “provide a highly inclusive environment” within the global risk community.

The council’s scope is to continue to identify relevant D&I goals for RIMS to pursue and to provide guidance on how best to achieve them, according to the RIMS statement.

Chaired by RIMS’ immediate past president, Robert Cartwright Jr., the new council will examine policies, programs and services related to D&I activities, developing content, interpreting and sharing D&I benchmarking and surveying RIMS’ risk professional network to better assess expectations and needs, the statement said.

RIMS said applications for volunteers to join the 12-person council are currently being accepted. Open to all RIMS members, those interested in joining can visit www.RIMS.org/volunteer.
