Gallagher buys Mississippi insurance agency

Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. on Wednesday said it has acquired Pointer Insurance Agency Inc.
Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
In a statement announcing the acquisition, Gallagher said Southaven, Mississippi-based Pointer offers property/casualty coverages to businesses and individuals across Mississippi and Tennessee, with a focus on commercial and residential construction, restaurants, the hospitality industry and artisan contractors. The statement said that Pointer also offers health, life, disability and long-term care coverages for individuals and families.
“Pointer is a great cultural fit with Gallagher and will help build our retail brokerage presence in the Northern Mississippi and Memphis region,” said Gallagher Chairman, President and CEO J. Patrick Gallagher Jr. in the statement.
The acquisition comes as part of a continuing burst of year-end acquisition activity by Gallagher, which has announced 11 deals in the past four weeks.
Arthur J. Gallagher is the world’s fourth-largest insurance brokerage, according to Business Insurance’s latest ranking.
