John Charman named overseas CEO for Sompo Holdings

John Charman, currently chairman and CEO of Sompo International Holdings Ltd., has been named CEO of overseas insurance business for Sompo Holdings Inc., effective April 1, 2019.
Nigel Frudd, who joined Sompo International in March 2017 as chief strategy officer and a member of the board of directors, will become CEO of Sompo International, effective Jan. 1, 2019, subject to applicable regulatory approvals, Sompo said Tuesday in a statement. Mr. Frudd also will be appointed to the new role at Sompo Holdings of senior executive vice president and chairman of overseas mergers and acquisitions.
Mr. Charman will remain as executive chairman of Sompo International’s board of directors. He is a longtime London and Bermuda market executive who joined Sompo when it bought Endurance Specialty Holdings Ltd., where he served as chief executive, in 2017.
Both executives will be based in Hamilton, Bermuda.
