Gallagher buys captive insurance consultant

Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. has bought Chicago-based captive insurance consultant Captive Insurance Company Design and Operations, the brokerage announced Monday.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Founded by health care safety and risk management firm Clarity Group Inc. in 2002, Captive Insurance Company Design and Operations focuses on medical and professional liability coverage for medical facilities, physicians, senior care organizations and other health care facilities, a Gallagher statement said.
Headed by Andrew Becker, the captive consulting firm’s staff will relocate to Gallagher’s Rolling Meadows, Illinois, headquarters, the statement said.
Captive Insurance Company Design and Operations will operate as part of Gallagher’s health care practice and work closely with Artex Risk Solutions Inc., its captive management operations, a Gallagher spokeswoman said in an email.
