Help

BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

Insurance softens hit to running back

It may not help the Philadelphia Eagles cover the loss of Jay Ajayi to injury, but the running back does have the comfort of loss-of-value insurance as he seeks to recover from a torn ACL.

London-born Mr. Ajayi, who was slated to have surgery Thursday to repair the season-ending injury, took out the policy both this year and last year, according to his agent, NFL.com reported.

According to the site, Mr. Ajayi, whose contract is up after the 2018 season, was valued as a significant free agent and the policy will cover him for up to $5 million if the injury takes down his market value to a point where he would be a lower-level free agent.

Such policies generally cost $80,000 to $100,000, the site reported.

The Eagles still managed to beat the New York Giants on Thursday without Mr. Ajayi, but with a .500 record look like they can ill-afford losing any more players if they want to repeat last year’s Super Bowl-winning performance.
