Markel’s ILS unit names Bermuda CEO

Markel CATCo Investment Management Ltd. said Thursday that Alissa Fredricks was named to the newly created position of CEO, Bermuda, effective immediately.
Ms. Fredricks, who joined the insurance-linked securities investment management unit of Markel Corp. in May 2016, will assume responsibility for all operations at its registered offices in Bermuda. She was previously Markel CATCo’s chief risk officer, overseeing its portfolio and all underwriting activity, and will continue those responsibilities as part of her new role, the company said in a statement.
Prior to joining Markel CATCo, Ms. Fredricks was with AIR Worldwide, where she was responsible for leading catastrophe risk modeling consulting services for the insurance, reinsurance and ILS markets.
She will report to CEO Tony Belisle.
