BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

No veggies in Veggie Straws snacks: Lawsuit

It’s a thing only a kid would be happy about: salty, crunchy Veggie Straws do not contain vegetables such as green leafy spinach, as its package claims.

So asserts a lawsuit reported in Thursday’s New York Post in which two men are suing Lake Success, New York-based Hain Celestial Group after discovering there are no actual vegetables in the company’s popular Garden Veggie Straws.

The snack food, which claims to have 30% less fat than potato chips, comes in bags with photos of spinach, a tomato and a potato on the front, the Post reported.

The lawsuit, filed by John Solak of Bible School Park, New York, and Jim Figger of Murrieta, California, in a New York federal court, claims Garden Veggie Straws “do not contain any of the actual vibrantly depicted vegetables” and are instead “misleading” consumers “who consciously seek out healthy foods and snacks,” the newspaper reported.

The actual ingredients, according to the Post: potato starch, corn starch, tomato paste and spinach powder.
