BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

Hartford names property/casualty underwriting chief

The Hartford Financial Services Group, Inc. named David Firstenberg chief underwriting officer for its property/casualty businesses on Thursday.

He will lead underwriting operations across The Hartford’s small commercial, middle market, specialty commercial and personal lines segments as well as head risk engineering and the development of the insurer’s underwriting approach for new markets and emerging risk.

Mr. Firstenberg will report to Doug Elliot, president of The Hartford and replaces Mo Tooker, who was named head of The Hartford’s Middle Market segment in March.

“David’s deep knowledge and experience will be instrumental as we continue to expand our risk appetite in new and evolving markets while remaining committed to underwriting discipline and fundamentals,” Mr Elliot said in the statement.

Prior to joining The Hartford, Mr. Firstenberg was president and CEO of Canal Insurance Co., a transportation insurer in Greenville, South Carolina.
