Berkshire Hathaway Specialty opens German office

Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance Co. has opened an office in Düsseldorf, Germany in coordination with its affiliate Berkshire Hathaway International Insurance Ltd.
The insurer also made executive appointments in the Düsseldorf office. Jörg Bechert was named senior vice president, head of executive and professional lines. Ulrich Kütter was named senior vice president, head of marine, Northern Europe. Leander Metzger will serve as senior vice president, head of property, Northern Europe. Robert Scherf will serve as vice president, head of human resources, Northern Europe, Berkshire Hathaway said in a Thursday said in statement.
“We are laying the foundation to provide customers throughout Europe with a full line of specialty insurance solutions, backed by BHSI’s industry-leading financial strength and underwriting and claims expertise,” Gregor Koehler, president, Northern Europe, BHSI said in a statement.
