BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

Henri de Castries, chairman and CEO of Paris-based Axa S.A. for 17 years, will retire on Sept. 1, at which time the roles of chairman and CEO will be separated, the insurer said Monday.

Thomas Buberl, CEO of Axa Germany and CEO of Axa's global health, life and savings lines, will become CEO of Axa on Sept. 1, according to a statement.

In the interim, Mr. Buberl has been appointed deputy CEO and joined the insurer's head office in Paris on Monday.

Denis Duverne, previously deputy CEO of Axa, will become board chairman on Sept. 1, Axa said.

The 61-year-old Mr. de Castries, who has been at Axa for 27 years, began its succession efforts in October 2013.

“It has been a privilege to succeed Claude Bebear and lead Axa over all these years, and I want to express my gratitude to the 166,000 women and men who are the face of Axa for our 103 million clients across the world, Mr. de Castries said in a statement. “Their professionalism and engagement have been a driving force and a fantastic motivation for me.”
