Directors and officers insurance rates generally falling: Analysis

Rates for directors and officers liability insurance decreased for the third quarter as well as the first nine months of 2015, Aon Risk Solutions said Wednesday.

For the quarter, the price per $1 million in D&O coverage was down 10.3% compared with the prior-year quarter, according to the report.

Thirty-four percent of primary policies renewing with the same limits and deductibles saw lower prices, while 21% saw higher prices. The overall change for primary D&O policies renewing with the same limits and deductibles was down 1.6%, the Aon P.L.C. unit said.

For the first nine months of the year, the price per $1 million was down 5.7% compared with the first nine months of 2014.

Thirty-one percent of primary policies renewing with the same limits and deductibles had lower prices, while 27% had higher prices. The overall price change for primary policies renewing with the same limits and deductibles was down 0.7% for the first three quarters of the year, according to the report.
