Swiss Re Ltd. has named Veronica Scotti as president and CEO of Swiss Re Canada, effective April 1, the firm said Monday in a statement.
Ms. Scotti, who is currently a client executive with Swiss Re in Armonk, New York, takes over from Sharon Ludlow, who joined Aviva Insurance Co. of Canada as president in June 2014.
Swiss Re Canada’s Chief Financial Officer Jonathan Turner has been filling the role on an interim basis, a spokesman for the company said.
Ms. Scotti will be based in Toronto and will report to Swiss Re Americas President and CEO Eric Smith, Swiss Re said. She will continue to be part of the firm’s Americas management team, according to the statement.
“Swiss Re has a strong history in Canada writing our first business there back in 1911. Veronica’s appointment underlines our continued commitment to the market,” Mr. Smith said in the statement. “She has extensive international experience, and I have every confidence that she will maintain and build on our reputation as an industry leader in the country.”
Swiss Reinsurance Co. Ltd. has said that the launch of some infrastructure projects in Hong Kong would boost insurance premiums growth in 2015, The Standard reported.
