BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

Dan Anderson has been named the 2015 recipient of the John S. Bickley Founder’s Award, the International Insurance Society announced Monday.

Mr. Anderson is emeritus professor in the department of actuarial science, risk management and insurance at the University of Wisconsin in Madison.

The Bickley Award honors individuals who have made a significant, lasting and recognized contribution to insurance thought, products, practice or education.

“A true trailblazer, Dan has been making a convincing case for over 40 years that the insurance industry is instrumental in dealing with environmental and social risks, leading up to the publication of his 2005 pioneering book ‘Corporate Survival: The Critical Importance of Sustainability Risk Management’,” said Bernhard Fink, IIS Honors Committee chairman, in a statement. “His commitment to insurance research and education is remarkable, and we are proud to bestow him the prestigious Founder’s Award.”

Mr. Anderson will be honored on June 15 in conjunction with the IIS 51st annual seminar in New York.
