BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

AmWINS Group Benefits is launching a new voluntary benefits practice that will be headed up by Robert Shestack, who joined the Charlotte, N.C.-based division of AmWINS Group Inc. this year.

AmWINS' new voluntary benefits practice, which will specialize in coverage solutions for employer groups with 50 to 1,000 lives, will offer supplemental benefits to benefit professionals and their clients including life, dental, vision, accident, short-term disability, critical illness and medical gap insurance, the company announced.

“With more employers moving to high-deductible health plans, many of the traditional core benefits are being eliminated,” said Sam Fleet, president of AmWINS Group Benefits, in a statement. “We are pleased to offer these additional coverage options to our customers as complementary benefits in an effort to help today's employers attract and retain their best talent.”

In addition to the new product offerings, AmWINS Group Benefits also will provide ancillary support services with plan administration, customer service, benefits communication, Web-based tools, call center support and use of enrollment counselors, the company said.

Mr. Shestack previously held the positions of managing director and national practice leader at two units of New York-based broker Marsh Inc. specializing in employee benefits.

Charlotte, N.C.-based AmWINS Group Benefits is a leading wholesale distributor of employee benefits and professional services. Its parent company, AmWINS Group, also based in Charlotte, is a leading specialty distributor of insurance products and services, generating more than $8 billion in premiums annually across a diversified mix of property, casualty and group benefits products, according to a company statement.
