BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

Aon P.L.C.'s revenues for the nine months ending Sept. 30 grew 1.2% over those of the same period in 2011 to $8.40 billion, London-based Aon reported Friday.

The broker posted net income of $688 million for the period, a drop of 2% from the same period a year earlier. Total revenue for Aon Risk Solutions, the company's brokerage and risk management operations, grew slightly less than 1% to $5.58 billion during the first nine months of the year, while revenue from its HR Solutions operations grew 2.5% to $2.85 billion.

For the third quarter of this year, Aon's total revenues grew less than 1% from those of the same period a year earlier to $2.74 billion. Revenues for the Risk Solutions operations remained virtually flat at $1.79 billion, while those of the HR Solutions operations grew 1.5% to $971 million.

Net income for the third quarter rose 3.0% from that of third-quarter 2011 to $204 million.

“Our third-quarter results, led by strong performance in HR Solutions, reflect solid progress against each of our three key metrics including 4% organic growth, 30 basis points margin improvement and 8% earnings growth,” said Aon President and CEO Greg Case in a statement announcing the results.
