BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

OFF BEAT: Staged shooting a fraud attempt, or just to impress girlfriend?

Reprints

Though police in South Glens Falls, N.Y., initially suspected that a 19-year-old man had attempted insurance fraud when he asked a friend to shoot him in a staged robbery attempt, it turns out that he may only have been demonstrating his machismo to impress his girlfriend.

According to local news reports, police are investigating the June 22 shooting of South Glens Falls resident Richmond Principe, who was wounded in the chest.

Terrance Naylor allegedly was recruited by Mr. Principe to shoot him in order to collect $50,000 under his father's liability insurance policy, according to the Glens Falls Post-Star. However, police have found no evidence such an insurance policy even existed, the newspaper reported.

Mr. Naylor has been charged with first-degree assault, while Mr. Principe has been accused of making a false written statement to police. Both men remain in custody.
