BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

EEOC to hold hearing on pregnancy, caregiver discrimination

Reprints

WASHINGTON—The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission is holding a hearing Feb. 15 on pregnancy discrimination and caregiver issues, the agency said Wednesday.

The EEOC said in its announcement that it will examine recent trends in discrimination against pregnant workers and workers with caregiving responsibilities, “examining these two forms of discrimination as a continuum.”

In 2007 guidance, the EEOC explained the circumstances under which discrimination against workers with caregiving responsibilities could constitute discrimination. It followed up in 2009 with suggested best practices for workers with caregiving responsibilities.

The hearing will begin at 9:30 a.m. at agency headquarters, 131 M St., N.E., Washington.
