BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

HCC launches primary, excess casualty insurance units

CHICAGO—HCC Insurance Holdings Inc. has formed two divisions to write primary and excess casualty insurance and hired industry veterans to head the new operations.

Christopher Day, formerly president of the primary casualty division of Navigators Management Inc., leads HCC’s Chicago-based primary casualty division as senior vp.

Phil Joschko, previously a vp at C.V. Starr & Co. Inc., is senior vp of the new excess casualty division, also based in Chicago.

The operations “will further expand the company’s specialty focus by extending its underwriting activities into general liability and excess liability insurance for construction, manufacturing, premises and public entity risks,” HCC said Friday in a statement.

John N. Molbeck Jr., CEO of Houston-based HCC, said in the statement that “establishing a strong general casualty underwriting capability is a natural progression for HCC. We are fortunate to have recruited two highly experienced and respected underwriting executives to build this specialty business for HCC.”
